About Us

The High Sheriff is His Majesty the King’s representative for law and order in Greater London, supporting the judiciary, police, courts, prisons, probation services, emergency services and the many voluntary and community organisations that help keep London safe, just and cohesive.
The office of High Sheriff dates back over 1,000 years, making it one of the oldest civic offices in the country. The role is appointed by the Sovereign, is non-political and unpaid, and runs for one year.
